Episode 37: Space Vamps and Dirt Naps

Bret, David, and Alan blast off into outer space, rid themselves of the burdens of clothing, and discuss Tobe Hooper’s 1985 extra-terrestrial vampire flick, Lifeforce. Then they crash down to Earth (fully-clothed, to comply with prudish societal norms) for a chat about John Carpenter’s 1998 stake in the vampire genre: the aptly-titled John Carpenter’s Vampires.

Bret needs to work on his averages. 2, 2, and 1.5 doesn’t average out to a 2.

1.833333333 is close enough to 2 in my opinion.

Only if you’re using the Olympic model and dropping the highest and lowest score 🙂

Rounding back up to 2 just deminishes the 1.5 score.

I personally rate movies on a 3 tier scale:

    Good (I’d watch it again)
Meh (it was ok, but I don’t plan on seeing it again
Bad (I wish I hadn’t wasted my time watching it the first time)

Lifeforce… such an amazing and ambitious film. Also (as best I can surmise) one of the early depictions of the bat hybrid vamp form (also seen in Fright Night).
