Episode 23: The Conjuring of Poltergeists and Frighteners

Turn off the light… stay away from the light… come to the light… hey, it’s your life; stop being so wishy-washy and make a decision. In this episode, Bret, David, and Alan discuss three ghostly films: Poltergeist (1982), The Frighteners (1996), and The Conjuring (2013). You’ll laugh (please do). You’ll cry (oh, please). You’ll crap your pants in fear (please don’t).

On point with all of these, Swearwolves.

In Poltergeist, the tree is the one thing that I found spooky. I think it might even be spookier than the clown. Still a pretty solid flick, overall, if a bit dated, but as you said, can’t hold that against it!

The Frighteners is one of my go to flicks every Halloween season. Just a fantastic film, and as you said, MJF…just can’t go wrong with him! Some of the CGI is dated, but that doesn’t detract too much from it as those scenes are short enough. The performances are so good in this, as you all noted. Peter Jackson could really make some good movies.

The Conjuring is easily one of my favorite new horror series. Love Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga (Norma Bates!), superstitious power couple. The sequel is also very good. Really hoping for a 3rd.

    Sincerely,
    MJF Superfan
