For horror fans you guys haven’t seen many films at all. After watching them you don’t like hardly any. I’d love to know your top 10 horror films.
We appreciate the feedback, and thanks for listening. I’m not sure how many horror movies would be considered “many,” but in our defense, we’ve reviewed several hundred for the podcast alone, and we’ve seen hundreds more that we haven’t reviewed on the show. Lately, we’ve been steering towards movies we either haven’t seen, have been meaning to see, or haven’t seen in a while.
If you check out the “movie ratings” section of our website (which only includes movies we’ve reviewed on the podcast), you’ll see plenty of films that we’ve rated 2.5 or higher (which is our “we liked it” threshold). We love horror (even some of the “bad” ones – haha), but some of our favorites are John Carpenter’s The Thing, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, The Shining, Halloween, the classic Universal Monster movies, The Exorcist, Alien, The Fly, Scream, Night of the Creeps, Return of the Living Dead, Jaws, Psycho, The Evil Dead, They Live, etc. There’s also a bunch of modern stuff that we dig, like Get Out, Us, The Loved Ones, The Cabin in the Woods, A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, Green Room, The Witch, The Lighthouse, Raw, It Follows, Ready or Not, Hush, and One Cut of the Dead.
What are some of your favorites?
Well it started for me when it was said one of you guys have never seen a Vincent Price movie before House on haunted hill. Yikes lol. I tend to watch horror movies with budget in mind. I love many Independent movies and while the acting isn’t great or effects can’t be great due to budget I give that a pass. So yeah I love everything from Universal to Hammer to 80’s slashers and alot in between. Don’t get me wrong I’ve seen many shitty movies but I tend to like ones you guys hate, ha ha. So Don’t go in the house is like a 4 to me. Deranged is another that has a similar feel that I love.
I wasn’t trying to call you guys out or be a dick. Just defensive about movies I love. Which I know is all about opinion and there is no wrong one. Well keep posting these and i’ll keep listening and I do watch your Youtube vids to. So thank you for all the content. Cheers
Nice! Yeah, Bret needs to check out more Vincent Price movies. The original House of Wax is one of my favorites. I think another thing that really comes into play with reactions to movies is where and when you saw it for the first time. There’s lots of movies that aren’t “good” that I enjoy because there’s a built-in nostalgia from seeing it at a young age, or seeing it at a time that I associate with great memories. On the flip-side, there’s stuff that had we seen earlier, we’d probably have a different opinion.
Thanks again for listening to the podcast, and for supporting the YouTube channel. We appreciate it!
Oh, and if you like a lot of the movies that we hate, we’ve got a doozy for you next week… 🙂
