Great episode, guys! I love Alien and Predator a lot. Maybe TOO much.

I feel like with the Alien Quadrilogy, you get a different genre almost in every flick.
Also, I agree that Aliens is overrated. I much prefer Alien. I still like Aliens, but I do not hold it in the same regard that many seem to.

You are all so wrong about Predator, I’m not even going to comment on it. Oh shit, I just did! Some dated effects, but overall, still such a great action flick. It actually takes an hour to get to the Alien in Alien, so I don’t see why the complaint about how long it takes to get to the Predator?

And also, it really took that long to realize Ridley Scott did BLADERUNNER? COME ON!!

    Sincerely,
Alien and Predator fan, but not a fan of Aliens vs. Predator

Hahaha. Yeah, Blade Runner should have been the first movie to come to mind when thinking of Ridley Scott. Not sure how/why we suffered a triple brain-fart. It’s a favorite… and the sequel was awesome, too.

I’m with this guy regarding Predator. Of all the 80s action films, this is among the few truly greats that eclipse nostalgia alone.

I agree with you, Lorrell. Predator does hold up still to this day.

Alien was such a testament to how even with less technology available to filmmakers, arduously and lovingly made sets and effects will hold up gloriously (much like The Thing). Holds up splendidly for me even to this day.

I also love what a “muscle show” Predator was. All those sweaty biceps answered the question of why my aunt was always willing to watch this with my uncle over and over again. For me, this also holds up wonderfully, but more on the basis of Arnie-stalgic awesomeness and gore and creature effects than overall mood (which Alien captured).
